Silvio Palmieri

Specialist in Free Software and Open Technologies

He has more than 38 years of experience in IT, with 23 of them dedicated to the Free Software ecosystem. He is an Ambassador of the Fedora Project, a member of openSUSE and PSL-Trinacional, and has been recognized as one of the main active advocates of Free Software in Paraná. A specialist in Free Software for the public sector and in networks, he has worked in several state and municipal governments and was involved in public policies for access to knowledge and information, delivering training, implementations, and lectures in almost every Brazilian state and in Latin American countries. When people weren’t even talking about digital and connected cities yet, Silvio was already implementing pioneering projects since 2009, which became references for various cities and for public policies of state governments. Known as “Captain Palmieri” in the Free Software universe, a nickname earned due to his serious approach to challenges and projects, he has organized numerous events in the field and remains a strong advocate of the community. He currently develops intelligent systems that integrate e-commerce, automation, secure APIs, and artificial intelligence. Above all, he is the father of Leonardo, a role he considers his greatest achievement.
