Professor and Researcher

PhD in Geosciences from the Institute of Geosciences at the University of São Paulo (USP, 2014), MSc in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE, 2010), and BA and Licentiate in Geography from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, 2007). Currently, he is an Associate Professor at UFRGS in the field of Remote Sensing, affiliated with the Department of Geodesy at the Institute of Geosciences (IGeo), where he teaches courses in Geography, Geology, Cartographic and Surveying Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Mining Engineering. He is also a Permanent Professor in the Graduate Program in Remote Sensing (PPGSR/UFRGS), supervising master’s and doctoral students, and leads the LATITUDE Research Group: Geological Remote Sensing, Geomorphology, and Landscape Dynamics (CNPq/UFRGS). He has significant academic and administrative experience, having served as Pro-Rector for Research and Graduate Studies at the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (UERGS, 2014–2018) and as a Member of the Advisory Committee on Geosciences at the Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS, 2019–2022). Currently, he is Head of the Department of Geodesy at IGeo/UFRGS and a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow – Level 1C (2025–2027) in Geosciences. His expertise focuses on Geomorphology, Geotectonics, Geotechnologies (Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing), as well as studies on Natural Disasters and Environmental Analysis.
