Janine Padilha Botton

Professor and Researcher

Janine Padilha Botton is an interdisciplinary researcher with academic and professional experience in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry and a full bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). She earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and a co-tutelle Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Université de Rennes 1 in France. She has completed three postdoctoral fellowships: one in Materials Science (UFRGS), another in Energy Systems Planning at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and a third in Chemistry at the Université de Rennes 1. Her expertise lies in electrochemistry, particularly in electroanalytical and applied techniques. In addition to her academic achievements, Janine actively contributes to the training of new researchers by supervising scientific initiation projects, master’s, and doctoral theses. Her scientific output is extensive and high-quality, with numerous articles published in high-impact scientific journals and presentations at national and international conferences. Currently, she is a professor at the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA), where she leads research projects on materials for energy production and storage, as well as those applied to sustainability. Her work aims to advance scientific and technological knowledge in her field, often in collaboration with Brazilian and foreign researchers. She is currently the vice-coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Energy and Sustainability.
