Joylan Nunes Maciel

Professor and Researcher

oylan Nunes Maciel holds a Ph.D. (2022) in Energy and Sustainability from the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Energy and Sustainability (PPGIES) at the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA). He earned a Master’s degree (2008) in Computer Science from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and a Bachelor’s degree (2006) in Computer Science from the State University of Western Paraná (UNIOESTE). He is a professor in the Applied Physics Graduate Program (PPGFISA) and also at PPGIES/UNILA. Since 2011, he has been an Associate Professor I at UNILA, teaching computer science courses for 14 undergraduate programs. He previously served as UNILA’s Information Technology Coordinator. He is a founding researcher of the Laboratory of Applied Computing (LACA). He is a reviewer for several international journals, including IEEE Latin America Transactions, Energy, Energies MDPI, Sustainability and Society, and Sustainable Energy Research (Springer Nature), among others. His work involves interdisciplinary research projects that apply computer science methods and techniques, especially Artificial Intelligence, as well as developing software for computers and mobile computational devices.
