Katia R. G. Punhagui

Assistant Provost of Research and Graduate Studies at UNILA

With extensive academic and professional experience, Katia Punhagui holds a Ph.D. in Architecture, Energy, and Environment from the Barcelona School of Architecture (UPC-Spain) and in Civil Construction Engineering from USP (Brazil), with a joint degree obtained in 2014. She holds a master’s degree from UPC (2008) and a bachelor’s and specialization degree in Architecture and Urbanism from UEL. She built her career working in the public and private sectors, in Brazil and Spain, on architectural projects and construction management. She was the technical coordinator for the Brazilian Council for Sustainable Construction (CBCS) and for UNILA’s Graduate Program in Civil Engineering. Currently, she is a professor and Assistant Vice-Rector of Research and Graduate Studies at UNILA, where she leads the Center for Technological and Social Innovation (NIT-UNILA) and the Sustainability and Innovation (SINOVA) research group. A researcher at LADEMA and CICS-USP, she is a member of councils and associations such as the Foz do Iguaçu Municipal Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation, IBRAMEN, ANTAC, and AUGM. Her research focuses on decarbonization, sustainability, life cycle assessment, material eco-efficiency, and sustainable housing.
